The Egyptian president receives Putin's aide and praises relations with Russia.
Trade exchange and joint ventures
President Abdel Fattah received SisiOn Monday, Nikolay Patrushev, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin and chairman of the Russian Maritime Council, was appointed.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and Ambassador Fayza Abou El-Naga, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Security Affairs National.
On the Russian side, Yuri Matveev, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Cairo, Sergei Vakhrukov, Director of the National Maritime Policy Department of the Presidency of the Russian Federation, Yevgeny Anushin, Deputy Director of the National Maritime Policy Department of the Presidency of the Russian Federation, and Konstantin Manasenko, Assistant Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
Strategic relations between Egypt and Russia
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President began the meeting by welcoming Patrushev and the high-level delegation accompanying him, expressing Egypt’s pride in the strategic relations with the Russian Federation, and emphasizing his great appreciation for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The President also praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations, especially in terms of trade exchange and joint projects, most notably the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, the project to establish a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and other projects that reflect the depth and special nature of Egyptian-Russian relations.

Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that Patrushev conveyed President Putin’s greetings to President El Sisi, stressing that his visit and the accompanying delegation come within the framework of Russia’s keenness to continue joint work with Egypt to activate the provisions of the strategic partnership and implement the understandings that were agreed upon between the two countries’ leaderships, whether during the President’s visit to Russia in May 2025, or through telephone communications between the two presidents, the last of which was on March 31, 2026, as well as discussing possible aspects of cooperation in various fields, as well as in the field of maritime navigation.
The position of joint projects
In this context, the meeting addressed the status of existing joint projects and those that could be implemented in Egypt, and reviewed all the discussions that the Russian delegation is conducting with the relevant national authorities.
For his part, the Russian official expressed the Russian leadership’s deep appreciation for the President’s efforts and the roles played by Egypt, stressing Russia’s support for these Egyptian efforts and its keenness to continue intensive coordination between the two countries at various levels.
