The government of Zamfara State in Nigeria expressed its deep sorrow over the recent killing of three policemen while on duty.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that three members of the Zamfara Police Command's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit were killed on Monday while carrying out their duties.

The officers were killed by an improvised explosive device planted by armed bandits on the Anka-Bajiga road in the Anka Local Government Area within the state.

The Secretary of the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakawada, led a high-level government delegation to participate in the funeral prayers for the victims.

The prayer was held at the police headquarters in the city of Gosau, led by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Desu, in accordance with Islamic rites.

The state government offered its heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the government and the people, to the Inspector General of Police, the Zamfara Police Command, the families of the victims, and all police personnel.

She prayed to God to have mercy on the deceased and to inspire his family with patience and solace in the face of this great loss.

The government's insistence on cooperating with security agencies

The government also renewed its commitment to continue supporting the families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives.

Nakawada reiterated the government's determination to cooperate with security agencies in order to eliminate banditry and various forms of crime in the state.

He said: “This painful incident will not deter us from continuing our efforts, but will increase our determination, and we will redouble our actions, and victory, God willing, is near.”.
