Chad raises its flag in Yaoundé with a gold and a bronze medal at the African Championships

Chad achieved a new sporting milestone on the continental stage after its players excelled in the WAKO 2026 African Kickboxing Championship, hosted by the Cameroonian capital Yaoundé, winning a gold medal and a bronze medal, a result that reflects the continuous development of the sport in the country.

Chadian player Adam Sindegui Ofchal was crowned African champion in the under 81 kg weight category, after a remarkable run that saw three consecutive victories over competitors from Benin and Cameroon, before deciding the final match by defeating his opponent from Benin, raising the Chadian flag on the podium and giving his country a new continental title.

Player Djerebom Ousias also won the bronze medal in the tournament, confirming the strong presence of Chadian kickboxing at the African level, and reinforcing the positive results achieved by the sport in recent years.

In this context, the Chadian authorities congratulated the two champions on their achievement, stressing that what they achieved reflects the great potential of Chadian athletes and demonstrates the ability of national sport to compete and win continental titles whenever it is provided with the appropriate care, support and training.

She also praised the efforts made by the Chadian Federation of Arab Boxing and Kickboxing, led by its president, Adamou Othman Miabi, in addition to the technical and administrative staff, headed by coaches Ali Abdelkader and Mbarga Denis, appreciating their role in preparing the players and bringing them to the podium.

The Chadian Ministry of Youth and Sports confirmed that these results represent an incentive to continue investing in the sports sector and supporting national talents in various games, which contributes to strengthening Chad’s presence in continental and international championships.

The ministry stressed its commitment to continuing to support sports champions and provide suitable conditions for developing their abilities, in implementation of the directives of the head of state aimed at empowering youth and supporting sports as a fundamental pillar of development and building an honorable image for Chad on the international stage.

This achievement is seen as a new step in the journey of Chadian sports, and a message confirming that investing in young talents can achieve tangible results and enhance the country’s standing in African and international sports forums.
