In the return areas of Burkina Faso, where communities are patiently rebuilding their lives after years of displacement, access to drinking water remains a major challenge, and this is what the Coris Foundation has chosen to address, a reality that threatens the lives of citizens in those areas of Burkina Faso.
As an extension, Gisèle Gomidzo Ouédraogo, General Manager of Corris International Bank in Burkina Faso, along with her close colleagues, presented a check for 50 million CFA francs to the Burkinabe Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant Colonel Bassouende Pelaji Kabore, on behalf of the Corris Foundation.
This came during the closing ceremony of the Dɛmɛ Sira national campaign, which was held on Thursday, June 12, 2026.
Drilling wells in return areas
These funds are to be allocated directly to drilling wells in return areas, as access to drinking water remains one of the biggest challenges.
For his part, Emile Zapsonry, head of the organizing committee for the national “Demi Sera” campaign, confirmed that: “This check will be used to dig wells in the areas of return, to facilitate the resettlement of the population.”.
He also made an urgent appeal to other institutions to follow the approach taken by the organization towards residents in areas of return.
For her part, Gomezwe Ouedraogo praised the “Demi Serra” initiative and the measures taken by the minister to support the most vulnerable population groups.
She said: “These donations are part of the social responsibility of Coris Bank, particularly through well drilling,” stressing her institution’s commitment to supporting the ministry in any initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of the population.
For his part, the minister stressed the importance of this solidarity initiative, noting that these donations came at the right time, given the continued suffering of remote areas from the effects of the security crisis, as every rehabilitated infrastructure is a step towards a dignified and sustainable return.
