Guinean authorities have announced that construction of the new first-instance court in the city of Fria is nearing completion, as part of the government's program to modernize the judicial infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the justice sector throughout the country.

The announcement came after an inspection visit by the National Director of Judicial and Prison Infrastructure, Alpha Kabene Kaba, to the project site on June 11, 2026, on the instructions of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Ibrahim Sory II Tounkara, to review the progress made in the construction work.

The completion rate is nearing completion.

The visit included technical officials from the project, representatives of the local judicial authorities, along with the implementing company and the consulting firm supervising the work, where the various stages of implementation were assessed and the technical and engineering aspects of the project were reviewed.

Technical officials revealed that the project's completion rate reached 98.7%, confirming that the work is nearing completion and the building is ready for official opening in the coming days, in a step that reflects the progress witnessed in the projects to develop judicial institutions in the country.

A modern court to enhance the quality of judicial services

The new court was designed according to modern standards that take into account the requirements of comfort, security and operational efficiency, thus providing a suitable working environment for judges, court clerks and workers in the judicial sector.

The new facility is expected to improve working conditions within the judicial system, as well as enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and expedite litigation procedures, thus ensuring more effective access to justice for the residents of Freya and the surrounding areas.

Supporting justice reforms and strengthening the rule of law

This project comes as part of the Guinean government’s efforts to develop the justice sector and modernize the infrastructure of judicial institutions, within the framework of a broader reform program aimed at strengthening the rule of law and improving citizens’ access to judicial services.

The authorities affirm that establishing modern courts and equipping them with the necessary infrastructure is one of the key pillars of supporting judicial reforms, which contributes to raising the efficiency of judicial institutions and enhancing citizens' confidence in the justice system.

The new Freya court project reflects the government’s commitment to continue investing in judicial infrastructure, in line with a vision to modernize public institutions and develop basic services across the country.

As the court's opening approaches, authorities hope that this facility will be a valuable addition to Guinea's justice sector, contributing to improved court performance and providing more efficient and effective judicial services to citizens.
