In a festive atmosphere reflecting the spirit of African solidarity, Ambassador Mayada Essam Abdel Rahman's congratulations on the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the African Union reaffirmed the importance of integration among the continent's nations. This year’s celebration coincided with the theme “Ensuring the sustainability of water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve Agenda 2063,” a theme that reflects the scale of the environmental and economic challenges facing Africa, especially with accelerating climate change and rising demand for water resources.

In her message, the ambassador affirmed that the Nile and Zambezi rivers, despite originating from two different parts of the continent, embody the unity of purpose and destiny among the peoples of Africa. Water is no longer just a natural resource, but has become an essential element for achieving food security, energy, and economic development.

In recent years, African countries have sought to strengthen regional cooperation in water resource management through joint projects aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding sanitation services, and providing safe water to millions, especially in rural and poorer areas.

The water issue is one of the main pillars of “Agenda 2063”, launched by the African Union as a long-term vision to achieve comprehensive development and transform the continent into a global economic power.
