Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister receives the Chinese Ambassador
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso received Faso Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, this morning, Ambassador of the Republic China The country's popular figure, Deong Chao, met to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and expand areas of joint cooperation in various development sectors.
This meeting came within the framework of continued political and diplomatic coordination between Ouagadougou and Beijing, as both countries move towards developing a deeper strategic partnership in the coming period.
Emphasis on expanding the exchange of delegations
During the talks, both sides stressed the importance of intensifying the exchange of official and technical delegations between Burkina Faso and China, which would contribute to strengthening mutual understanding, developing cooperation opportunities, and utilizing the capabilities available to both parties in supporting development plans.
Both parties noted that strengthening direct communication between government institutions and economic sectors is a key step to pushing the partnership towards more effective and sustainable levels.
Progress in strategic sectors
The meeting reviewed ongoing projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation, and commended the progress made in a number of vital sectors, including health, agriculture, drinking water provision, energy, and human resource development programs.
These projects reflect the broadening scope of cooperation between the two sides, to include areas that directly address basic development needs in Burkina Faso, particularly with regard to improving basic services and strengthening infrastructure.
For his part, the Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso praised the Chinese Ambassador’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing his ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support to facilitate the implementation of various projects and programs carried out by China in the country.
He also stressed that the government seeks to ensure the success of these projects in a way that achieves tangible results on the ground and contributes to improving the living conditions of citizens.
This meeting comes in the context of escalating cooperation between Burkina Faso and China in recent years, with the Ouagadougou-Beijing axis witnessing remarkable progress in the areas of development, investment and infrastructure.

The Ouagadougou-Beijing axis represents a strategic strengthening of relations between Burkina Faso and China since the resumption of diplomatic relations in May 2018, with both parties working to consolidate cooperation in the political, economic and security fields.
This relationship has been strengthened through the exchange of official visits, the signing of cooperation agreements, and the presentation of credentials by new Chinese diplomats to enhance their presence in the region.
