Ahmed Salem

The dialysis center at the CHR Regional Hospital in Didogo has begun operating at full capacity, just days after its inauguration by the Prime Minister, as part of the simultaneous operation of four new dialysis centers in Burkina Faso.

The activities were launched in earnest with a field visit to inspect and review the quality of care provided to the first patients.

This medical facility enhances access to specialized care in the Bankoy region and brings health services closer to the population.

12 state-of-the-art dialysis machines

The head of the Nephrology Unit, Dr. Safiatou Ouedraogo, explained that the first dialysis sessions began on June 25, 2026, and the center has 12 state-of-the-art dialysis machines.

The center can accommodate up to 30 sessions per day, spread over three periods. About ten patients have already been scheduled, and requests are still coming in, reflecting the scale of the need for kidney disease care in the region.

Reducing the need for medical evacuations and alleviating burdens

Dr. Safiatou emphasized that this new facility fulfills a long-awaited aspiration of the local population. It will not only improve the quality of care for patients with chronic kidney failure, but also reduce the need for medical evacuations to other regions.

For their part, the first beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction at receiving dialysis sessions in Dedougou, close to their families, without the hardship and high costs of transportation.

By opening this center, the government reaffirms its commitment to bringing specialized care closer to the population and promoting equitable access to healthcare services throughout the country. For patients in the Bankoy region, this facility represents new hope and a tangible improvement in their quality of life.
