The "Mamay" organization has gained in Sierra LeoneWith a strong boost of support and encouragement following the response of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the capital, Freetown, to a request submitted by the organization with the aim of supporting a number of anticipated humanitarian activities, in a step that reflects the depth of humanitarian relations and development cooperation between Egypt and Sierra Leone.

Egyptian support for humanitarian initiatives in Sierra Leone

June 11, 2026, marked a significant event for the organization when its project manager, Jonathan Frank Johnson, went to the Egyptian Embassy in Freetown with a simple request for support.

But he returned with more than just a response, as he received a strong message of solidarity that boosted the organization's hopes of implementing its community programs.

Preparations for African Child Day and World Blood Donor Day

The «Mamay» organization had requested support to organize two prominent events, African Child Day and World Blood Donor Day, two occasions that the organization attaches great importance to because of their role in improving the lives of the population and promoting health awareness, especially in the areas of Koinadougou and Falaaba, where the organization is constantly active in supporting health services and empowering local communities.

Through these events, the organization seeks to highlight children's issues and promote a culture of blood donation, which contributes to saving lives and improving health indicators in the most needy areas.

Ambassador Rasha Suleiman praises the organization's efforts

During the meeting, the Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Rasha Suleiman Mohi El-Din Suleiman, warmly received the organization’s representative and listened to a detailed explanation about «Mamay’s» activities and humanitarian projects throughout Sierra Leone.

The ambassador praised the positive impact the organization has had on the ground, appreciating the commitment of its team and its continuous efforts to serve local communities and improve the health conditions of the most vulnerable groups.

A gift to support community activities

In a humanitarian gesture that was greatly appreciated, the Egyptian Embassy presented the organization with a new phone worth approximately US$1,300, to be sold and the entire financial proceeds allocated to support the organization of events for African Child Day and World Blood Donor Day.

The organization affirmed that this initiative reflects a genuine understanding of the importance of community work, and gives it an additional boost to continue its humanitarian efforts.

Prospects for a future partnership

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on this cooperation representing the beginning of a broader partnership between the two sides, with a shared aspiration to enhance cooperation in humanitarian and development fields to serve the people of Sierra Leone.

The Mamay organization expressed its deep gratitude to Ambassador Rasha Suleiman and the Egyptian Embassy team, stressing that this support turned the request for assistance into concrete practical steps and contributed to strengthening its ability to continue serving the most needy communities in Sierra Leone.
