Egypt presents its vision for strengthening national peacebuilding structures in Africa during the UN Peacebuilding Week

Egypt actively participated in the first edition of the United Nations Peacebuilding Week, which was launched in implementation of the outcomes of the 2025 Peacebuilding Architecture Review, where its Permanent Mission to the United Nations organized a side event entitled: “Strengthening National Peacebuilding in Africa: Lessons Learned and Future Prospects.”.


The event focused on the importance of building and strengthening national institutions and conflict prevention mechanisms as the cornerstone for achieving sustainable peace, and translating the international community’s commitments into tangible results at the national level.

She also reviewed a number of successful African experiences and models in this field, stressing the importance of partnerships between national governments, the United Nations, the African Union and international partners, while maintaining the principle of national ownership of peacebuilding efforts.

The organization of the event came as a confirmation of the Egyptian role in supporting the peacebuilding agenda at the African and international levels, and to enhance cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union in the field of conflict prevention and the consolidation of sustainable peace.

The event was widely attended at the Egyptian mission headquarters, with the participation of representatives of member states, the United Nations Secretariat, civil society organizations, academic and research circles, as well as experts and practitioners in the field of peacebuilding, where participants exchanged national experiences and lessons learned, and discussed practical recommendations that would support and strengthen national peace structures across the African continent.
