The Egyptian Embassy in the capital organized The Ghanaian Accra hosted the first session of the joint virtual business forum between the two countries, in cooperation with the embassy’s commercial office, and with broad participation from representatives of the business community and specialized companies from both sides, in a new step to support economic relations between Egypt and Ghana.
The forum witnessed a remarkable turnout from companies operating in vital sectors including ContractingInformation and communication technology, food industries, and pharmaceuticals, along with the participation of unified procurement and pharmaceutical bodies in Egypt and Ghana, reflecting the growing interest in expanding the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Participation of the Chairman of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives
Dr. Sherif El-Gebaly, Chairman of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, also participated in an extensive dialogue session that included about 90 prominent figures representing the business community and those interested in trade and investment in Egypt and Ghana, in addition to representatives of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
The discussions focused on reviewing the advantages provided by the Continental Free Trade Agreement, most notably the customs exemptions and trade facilities that contribute to enhancing intra-African trade and opening new markets for Egyptian and Ghanaian companies.

For his part, Ambassador Wael Fathi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ghana, reviewed the developments in bilateral relations between Cairo and Accra, stressing that economic relations are witnessing remarkable growth during the current stage, in conjunction with the increasing number of Egyptian companies operating in the Ghanaian market and contributing to development projects there.
A promising market for Egyptian companies
The ambassador pointed out that Ghana represents a promising market for Egyptian companies, especially given its strategic location within the West African region, which makes it an important gateway to boost Egyptian exports to regional markets.
The forum witnessed the holding of a number of specialized sectoral sessions, which discussed the most prominent investment opportunities and challenges facing the increase in trade exchange rates between the two countries, with a focus on practical solutions to enhance the economic partnership.
The most prominent results of the forum included an agreement to facilitate the registration procedures for Egyptian medicines within the Ghanaian market, which supports increasing exports of the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector, in addition to setting executive steps to maximize opportunities for market access in both countries.
The participants also discussed the importance of revitalizing mutual visits between businessmen and investors, with the aim of exploring joint manufacturing opportunities and expanding exports to foreign markets, especially within the West African region.
