Egyptian-Djiboutian talks to develop trade and air transport between the two countries

Egypt and Djibouti discuss strengthening trade and tourism cooperation and expanding joint investment opportunities.

Egypt and Djibouti discussed ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, within the framework of growing bilateral relations that have witnessed increasing momentum recently, reflecting the keenness of both sides to expand areas of partnership and support common interests in various vital sectors.

This came during a meeting between Ambassador Abdel Rahman Raafat and the Djiboutian Minister of Trade and Tourism, Orbis Hailef, where he conveyed Egypt’s congratulations on his assumption of his new position, stressing Cairo’s interest in continuing to develop economic and trade relations with Djibouti and building on the progress achieved in the course of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Ambassador Abdel Rahman Raafat stressed the importance of strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, noting that Egypt pays special attention to developing its relations with sister African countries, especially Djibouti, due to its strategic importance in the Horn of Africa and Bab al-Mandab region.

The talks also addressed ways to develop intra-regional trade and improve air transport between the two countries, which would contribute to facilitating the movement of people and goods and opening new horizons for investors and businessmen, as well as supporting trade exchange and strengthening economic ties between Cairo and Djibouti.

The meeting witnessed discussions on opportunities for cooperation in the trade, investment and tourism sectors, in addition to exploring mechanisms to benefit from the economic potential available to both sides, and working to attract more investments and exchange experiences in a way that serves the development plans of both countries.

The two sides also discussed preparations for high-level visits and upcoming meetings between officials of the two countries, which aim to give a new impetus to bilateral relations and expand the scope of joint cooperation in various fields.

For his part, the Djiboutian Minister of Trade and Tourism expressed his appreciation for the distinguished relations that unite his country with Egypt, stressing Djibouti’s aspiration to strengthen cooperation with Cairo during the next stage, especially in the economic and tourism fields.

The Djiboutian minister pointed out his country’s interest in developing the tourism sector and benefiting from Egyptian expertise in this field, as well as working to attract Egyptian investments to the Djiboutian market, which would contribute to supporting economic development efforts and creating new opportunities for cooperation between the public and private sectors in the two countries.

This meeting reflects the keenness of Egypt and Djibouti to strengthen their economic and investment partnership, and to leverage the distinguished political relations between the two countries to achieve greater economic integration and support sustainable development in the region.
