Peter Ogwang, Minister of State for Sport, announced UgandaRegarding organizing a field visit for a number of cabinet members to the Homa City Stadium, as part of monitoring the country’s preparations to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Preparing the sports facilities and infrastructure associated with the tournament
Ogwang explained that the tour comes as part of the Cabinet meeting activities, and aims to inform the new ministers about the extent of the government’s efforts to prepare the sports facilities and infrastructure related to the upcoming continental championship.
The minister noted that the visit would not be limited to sports facilities only, but would also include a number of strategic projects in the Bunyoro sub-region, including the East African Pipeline project, Kabalega Airport, the Kingfisher project, as well as other development projects.
Ogwang stressed that this tour reflects the government's commitment to accelerating work on national projects, ensuring the country's readiness to host the continental event and maximizing the benefits of infrastructure investments.
In closing, the Minister of State for Sports expressed his appreciation to the Cabinet Secretariat and the Head of the Civil Service, praising the importance of this field visit in supporting government coordination and monitoring the implementation of projects on the ground.
