Egypt's ambassador to Zimbabwe is following up on the success of the Egyptian medical mission in Harare.

Ambassador Dr. Maha Serag El-Din, Egypt’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, today visited Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals at the conclusion of the mission of the Egyptian medical delegation specializing in pediatric cardiac surgeries, headed by Dr. Hisham Shawky, within the framework of strengthening medical cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The mission of the Egyptian medical delegation, which began on April 19, 2026 and ended on the 26th of the same month, continued, during which the delegation performed 10 open-heart surgeries for children in critical cases, in cooperation with the Zimbabwean medical team.

The mission also included following up on cases that had undergone operations in previous missions, reflecting the spirit of fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.

During her visit, Ambassador Maha Siraj El-Din checked on the stability of the patients’ conditions at the hospital, and inspected the various departments, including the clinics and intensive care units, in the presence of Dr. Hisham Shawky and his medical team.
The ambassador expressed her pride in the professional level and efforts made in providing healthcare for children at the hospital.
At the press conference held to mark the conclusion of the medical mission, Dr. Hisham Shawky noted that this mission is the third of its kind, and aims to exchange medical expertise between Egypt and Zimbabwe, as well as to train medical and nursing staff in heart surgery.
He added that the mission came at a critical time, as the health sector in Zimbabwe is witnessing an increase in the number of children who need open-heart surgery, noting that the medical delegation seeks to develop the capabilities of the Zimbabwean health sector so that it can perform three open-heart surgeries per day.
For her part, Ambassador Dr. Maha Siraj El-Din expressed her deep gratitude to the Zimbabwean side for facilitating the mission of the Egyptian delegation, stressing that these efforts represent a model of cooperation between the two countries in the health field, praising the success of the mission and its positive impact on improving medical services for children.
She stressed that this initiative comes within the framework of the African Agenda 2063, which places human beings and their well-being at the forefront of its priorities, emphasizing that everyone deserves a decent life. .
The ambassador looks forward to the continuation of these medical initiatives and the strengthening of cooperation in this vital field, which will contribute to improving the health level of children in Zimbabwe.
