The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is exploring ways to enhance cooperation with Britain.

Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, paid a courtesy visit to Baroness Chapman of Darlington, UK Minister for Development and Africa.

The meeting provided an opportunity to update them on the current status of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, following the conclusion of negotiations, and to reaffirm the strong partnership between the UK government and the agreement's secretariat.

Cooperation between Africa and Britain

The discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in priority areas, including trade facilitation, investment promotion, and digital trade.

It was also emphasized that enabling the British private sector to participate more actively in Africa, by taking advantage of the opportunities available under the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, is a key factor in strengthening trade and investment relations.
