China calls for working with Africa to counter the fallout from a war with Iran.

Visit of the President of Mozambique to China

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for working with African countries to address the fallout from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly its impact on the energy market.

This came during his talks in the Chinese capital, Beijing, with the president Republic of Mozambique Daniel Francisco Chapo.

Countering the effects of conflict

Xi said that as the effects of the conflict in the Middle East extend to African countries, China is ready to work hand in hand with Africa to meet these challenges, jointly promote peace, and work together to drive development.

According to Reuters, Xi urged Africa to call for a ceasefire to end hostilities and encouraged the international community to "practice genuine multilateralism.".

In a related context, Zhao Leshi, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, met with President Daniel Francisco Chapecoense of Mozambique in Beijing today.

Continuing the traditional friendship between Mozambique and China

In his remarks, he stressed that his country is ready to work with MozambiqueUnder the guidance of the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, in order to continue the traditional friendship, deepen mutual political trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and fully implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

He expressed China’s readiness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Mozambique between legislative bodies, share experiences in areas such as reform and development, rule of law building, rural development, and provide impetus for the development of both countries.

Practical cooperation between Mozambique and China

Chabo said his country firmly adheres to the One China principle and actively supports the four major global initiatives proposed by China.

He stressed that Mozambique is ready to strengthen practical cooperation with China, enhance exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries, and promote the development of bilateral relations.
