عقب هجوم لنهب الماشية

عادت مشاعر الفرح والأمل إلى سكان منطقة فيام روالبِت بمقاطعة تونج الشمالية في جنوب السودان، بعد العثور على طفلة تبلغ من العمر 4 سنوات، كانت قد فُقدت قبل نحو أسبوعين إثر هجوم مسلح استهدف نهب الماشية وأجبر سكان المنطقة على الفرار.
العثور على الطفلة جالسة تحت شجرة
وعُثر على الطفلة في إحدى المناطق الحرجية، جالسة تحت شجرة وهي في حالة من الإرهاق الشديد، بينما كانت تمسك بقطعة من الخشب الجاف، يُرجح أنها استعانت بها خلال فترة بقائها بمفردها حتى تم العثور عليها.
ووفقًا لإفادات محلية، كانت مجموعة من النساء المنتميات إلى مجتمع “نوي” في طريقهن من منطقة مونجوك إلى روالبِت للمشاركة في مراسم تقليدية، قبل أن تتحول رحلتهن إلى مهمة إنسانية بعدما عثرن على الطفلة وأنقذنها.
وأثار العثور على الطفلة حالة من الارتياح والفرحة بين أفراد أسرتها وسكان المنطقة، في وقت تتواصل فيه عمليات البحث عن شقيقتها، البالغة من العمر ست سنوات، والتي لا تزال في عداد المفقودين منذ وقوع الهجوم.
ودفعت الواقعة إلى تجدد الدعوات لوقف أعمال العنف المرتبطة بنهب الماشية، وتعزيز حماية المدنيين، لا سيما الأطفال، إلى جانب تكثيف جهود ترسيخ السلام والتعايش بين المجتمعات المحلية في جنوب السودان.
In another context, local authorities in Torit County, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan, announced the death of three children, aged between two, 15 and 17 years, as a result of hunger in the Ofi area, amid declining rainfall rates and the impact on agricultural production during the current season.
Radio Community quoted the acting governor of Torit County, Eddie William Bonciano, as saying that the authorities had launched an urgent appeal to humanitarian partners, foremost among them the World Food Programme, to intervene immediately and provide food assistance, noting that other areas, including Hiala, were facing similar humanitarian situations.
For her part, Dr. Anna Itwari Felix, Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Eastern Equatoria State, explained that climate change and reduced rainfall have led to a decline in agricultural production, exacerbating the food security crisis in the state. She warned that the situation could deteriorate further unless urgent humanitarian assistance is provided, along with the adoption of more climate-resilient agricultural practices.
