Mayada Essam, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Zambia, organized a third promotional event for African Business Summit Alamein Africa GO63, at the Egyptian Embassy in the Zambian capital Lusaka on June 5, 2026, with the participation of a number of senior officials and representatives of the public and private sectors in Zambia.

The event was attended by Kosubele Kamwambi, Head of the Presidential Programme Implementation Follow-up Unit in Zambia, Albert Halwamba, Director General of the Zambia Development Agency, Mulele M. Mulele, Permanent Secretary for Economic and Financial Administration at the Zambian Ministry of Finance and National Planning, Christopher Onyango, Director of Trade and Customs at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and Justin C. Lungu, Executive Director of Zesco Electric, along with a select group of representatives from the Zambian business community and government institutions.

During the event, a comprehensive presentation was given about the African Business Summit in El Alamein, which included a review of the forum’s objectives, main themes, and investment and trade opportunities it offers, as well as a detailed explanation of the logistical procedures for registration, available accommodation options, and travel arrangements and air and internal transportation for participants.

This event comes as part of efforts to enhance African participation in the summit, and to highlight the opportunities available for economic and investment cooperation between Egypt and African countries, which contributes to supporting economic integration and sustainable development on the continent.
Preparations for the El Alamein African Summit
In a separate context, Ambassador Dr. Obaida El-Dandrawi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Addis Ababa and its Permanent Representative to the African Union, headed the Egyptian delegation participating in the opening meeting of the fifty-second session of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the African Union, held from June 3 to 16, 2026 at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, within the framework of the ongoing preparations for the convening of the 49th session of the Executive Council of the African Union and the eighth mid-year coordination meeting, scheduled to be held in El Alamein from June 24 to 27, 2026.
The work of the Committee of Permanent Representatives continues in preparation for submitting its recommendations and reports to the 49th session of the Executive Council, in preparation for adopting the necessary decisions during the meetings scheduled in El Alamein.
The delegation included Second Secretary Mohamed El Sagheer and Third Secretary Ahmed Amir.
On Wednesday, at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, the 52nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee of the African Union opened. Among the topics to be discussed by the Committee are preparations for the 8th Semiannual Coordination Meeting between the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms, which will be held in Egypt from June 24 to 27, as well as the meeting of the committees.
