The Malian Ministry of Security and Civil Protection explained that “two billion CFA francs” have been allocated for any information leading to the “arrest or neutralization” of Iyad Ag Ghali, the leader of the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims, also known as Abu al-Fadl.

It added in a statement that a reward of “1.5 billion CFA francs” has also been allocated for anyone who provides information leading to the “arrest or neutralization” of Amadou Koufa, the leader of the Macina Battalion, whose real name is Hamadoun Hassan Sankare, and who is also known by names including Barry and Ngobo.

Bilal Ag Cherif's name was also included among the wanted persons, with a reward of 500 million CFA francs offered for information leading to his arrest or death. The same applies to Abdel Rahman Batna, known as the Algerian.

According to the Malian authorities, these individuals are “actively wanted” on suspicion of involvement in planning, organizing, or carrying out terrorist acts targeting the security of persons and property within Malian territory.

Reporting any information that could help locate wanted individuals

The authorities called on Malian citizens to “remain vigilant and cooperate with the armed forces and security forces” by “reporting any information that could help locate these wanted individuals.”.

The announcement of these rewards comes after the widespread attacks carried out by the Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) in alliance with the Azawad Liberation Front (FLN) on April 25, which targeted Bamako, Kati, Mopti, Sévaré, Konna, Kidal, and Gao, and resulted in the death of Defense Minister General Sadio Camara.
