Phone call between the Foreign Minister and his Somali counterpart: Egypt rejects unilateral actions in Mogadishu

A telephone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia, during which the call addressed developments in Somalia, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint coordination between the two countries.
During the call, Minister Abdel-Aati affirmed Egypt’s full support for the Federal Republic of Somalia and its national institutions, and its keenness to follow the ongoing developments, especially in the capital, Mogadishu, stressing the importance of maintaining the security and stability of Somalia.
The Foreign Minister also reiterated Egypt’s full support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the preservation of its national institutions, stressing Egypt’s complete rejection of any unilateral actions that affect the unity of Somali territory or diminish its sovereignty.
For his part, the Somali Foreign Minister praised Egypt’s continued support for Somalia at the political, developmental and security levels, appreciating Egypt’s firm positions in support of Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressing the keenness to continue coordination and consultation with Egypt on various issues of common interest in order to achieve common interests.
