Both South Sudan and Kenya witnessed a special festive atmosphere on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, as Muslims gathered for prayers and religious celebrations that carried messages of peace, unity, and social solidarity.

Muslims in Juba celebrate Eid al-Adha

In the capital of South Sudan, members of the Muslim community in Juba gathered in Al-Zahra Square to celebrate Eid al-Adha, in a scene that reflected the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among members of the community.

The celebrations included Eid prayers in a deeply spiritual atmosphere, with participants exchanging greetings and prayers for peace and stability in the country. The occasion also embodied the values of sacrifice and unity associated with Eid al-Adha, reflecting popular aspirations for greater coexistence among the diverse communities of South Sudan.

The worshippers offered prayers for security and stability, emphasizing the important role of religious occasions in strengthening social bonds and spreading the values of tolerance and love among citizens.

Kenya: Calls for coexistence and support for vulnerable groups

In Kenya, thousands of Muslims in various cities participated in Eid al-Adha celebrations, amid official calls for national unity and community solidarity.

Hassan Ali Juho called on Kenyans to live in harmony and promote the values of solidarity, while emphasizing the need to support the most vulnerable groups within society.

During his participation in the Eid celebrations, the Kenyan official stressed that the occasion represents an opportunity to consolidate the values of sacrifice, cooperation and helping those in need, pointing to the importance of preserving the spirit of national unity among the various segments of the Kenyan people.

He also stressed the need for continued peaceful coexistence among members of society, considering that Eid al-Adha carries humanitarian and religious messages that promote love and solidarity among citizens.

Festive atmosphere and messages of peace

The Eid al-Adha celebrations in both countries reflected an atmosphere of joy and social cohesion, as Muslims were keen to perform religious rituals and exchange greetings, in addition to providing assistance to the poor and needy.

These celebrations come at a time when African societies are emphasizing the importance of religious occasions in supporting social stability and promoting a culture of peace and tolerance among peoples.
