The President of Zambia hands over a hospital bearing his name and recalls his 127-day detention in Mokopeko prison.
Hakainde Hichilema pointed out that this facility stands as a permanent witness to our unlawful imprisonment on trumped-up treason charges, which led to our detention for 127 days in the Mokopiko maximum-security prison.

He emphasized: “This is a humble contribution from the family to the people of Kalango and the Western Province as a whole. The hospital stands as a lasting symbol of those difficult times and a tribute to that memory. Our dedication to serving our citizens stems from a sincere commitment to improving the quality of life of our people.”.
He explained that health is life, and we believe that providing good healthcare is one of the most precious gifts we can give to this community. We handed it over to the government through the Ministry of Health for its management.

He pointed out: “Nations are not built by governments alone, but also by citizens who choose to support national progress. We express our gratitude to President Kalango and to everyone who contributed to the success of this project,“ noting: ”We are doing what we must because we truly love and care about our people… Let us complete the task entrusted to us and together achieve Zambia’s harvest.”.
