The President of Gabon is making a state visit to Gambia to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, will host the President of the Republic of Gabon, Brice Clooney Olegwey Nguema, on a state visit from July 30 to August 2, 2026, with the aim of strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the visit, the two presidents will hold a bilateral meeting, followed by an official meeting at the presidential palace in the capital, Banjul, to review existing areas of cooperation and explore new opportunities for partnership between the two countries.
Visiting a number of vital government projects and historical sites
President Olegwe Nguema will also visit a number of vital government projects and historical sites, including:
The National Laboratory for Food and Drug Quality Control in Prosopie.
Faraba Campus of the University of The Gambia.
The National Emergency Treatment Center in Varato.
Katchikali Crocodile Pond in Bacau.
The visit will conclude with a state banquet hosted by President Barrow in honor of his guest, reaffirming The Gambia and Gabon’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and promoting sustainable economic development.
President Brice Clouteire Olegué Nguema is 51 years old and was sworn in as Gabon's fourth president in May 2025, following the country's first democratic presidential election in decades.
His term is expected to focus on strengthening good governance, implementing economic reforms, and improving the standard of living for citizens, in fulfillment of the promises he made during his election campaign.
