The dual carriageway project between Lusaka and Ndola has reached Zambia With a completion rate of 78%, this has significantly reduced travel times and put the pioneering project on track ahead of schedule.

Anthony Mulua, director of communications and corporate affairs at the Zambia Roads Development Authority (RDA), said the project, which began in May 2024, is expected to be largely completed this year, ahead of the contractual completion date of 2027.

Speaking to the media in Kabwe today, Mulua explained that the current pace of implementation reflects the government's commitment to providing modern transport infrastructure that will support economic growth and improve connectivity between regions.

He added: ”I am pleased to announce that we continue to make good progress on this transformative project. We have currently reached a completion rate of 78% on the main road, and at the pace we are proceeding, we expect to complete the majority of the project this year. I commend the contractor and all those involved in the project for ensuring that the work is progressing ahead of schedule.”
For his part, Edwin Moya, Assistant Site Engineer at Moic Consortium Limited and responsible for the second package of the project, said that the construction work on the 25-kilometer Kabwe Bypass Road has reached an advanced stage, with 9 kilometers of it already paved.

Moya explained that about 14 kilometers remain, but most of the basic work has already been completed, and only a limited number of sections remain before asphalt paving work can begin.
