Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni called on the new cabinet members and ministers of state to dedicate their efforts to serving what he described as Uganda’s historic mission of achieving comprehensive socio-economic transformation and moving the country from a traditional subsistence economy to a modern, prosperous, manufacturing-based economy.
This came during his official opening of the introductory and qualification program for members of the Cabinet, which lasts for ten days at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in the Qianquanzi region, with the participation of the new ministers and senior government officials.
Museveni urges ministers to serve the citizens
In his speech, President Museveni stressed that the current stage requires government leaders to work with a spirit of responsibility and national commitment in order to accelerate the pace of economic development and achieve the state’s goals in the areas of production, investment, manufacturing and raising the standard of living of citizens.
He noted that Uganda has made remarkable progress over the past decades in a number of sectors, but the biggest challenge remains completing the economic transformation process by strengthening manufacturing, developing infrastructure, creating jobs and improving income levels, in order to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Museveni described the Kiyankwanzi region as a land of sacrifice, noting its historical significance in the history of the ruling National Resistance Movement. He reminded the ministers that the movement was founded on the principles of altruism, serving the people, and working for the common good, urging the new officials to draw inspiration from these values in their government duties.

He added that the success of the government is not measured only by the policies and plans put in place, but also by the extent to which they are reflected in the lives of citizens and the improvement of their economic and social conditions, stressing that true leadership is based on serving the people and responding to their needs and aspirations.
The training program hosted by the National Leadership Institute aims to familiarize the new ministers with the government’s priorities and strategic programs, and to enhance coordination between various government institutions, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of executive performance and achieving national development goals.
These statements come at a time when the Ugandan government continues to implement its plans to boost economic growth, attract investments and develop productive sectors, within a vision aimed at transforming Uganda into a modern country that relies on manufacturing, innovation and achieving sustainable economic prosperity.
