Namibia's president praises her country's diamond industry
Ndayitwa values providing opportunities for people with special needs

Namibia's President, Ntumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa, made a field visit to the company.«Shakhter and Namdar»The company, which specializes in cutting and polishing diamonds, is located in the Prosperita industrial area of the capital, Windhoek, as part of monitoring developments in the mining sector and related industries.
The President is briefed on diamond cutting and polishing techniques.

During the visit, the President inspected the various departments of the company, where she was briefed on the work stages and diamond cutting and polishing techniques, as well as the operating mechanisms within the facility.
Nandi-Ndaitwa expressed her appreciation for the company's efforts, praising the diversity within the work environment, particularly the provision of opportunities for people with special needs, stressing the importance of promoting this approach in various sectors.
She urged the workers to continue their commitment and dedication to performing their duties, while praising their vital role in supporting the diamond industry, as it is one of the important economic pillars of the country.
Two days ago, Namibia’s President Ntumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa received former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo for a visit, following their meeting earlier this year.
Their discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment relations between Namibia and Nigeria, as a means to drive economic growth and create jobs.
President Nandi-Ndaitwa and former President Obasanjo expressed their shared concern about ongoing global conflicts, stressing the importance of reaching peaceful and amicable solutions, while also discussing ways to enable Africa to cope with an increasingly turbulent global environment.
Earlier, the President of Namibia inaugurated Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa officially inaugurated the Gorengap Commercial Centre in the Katutora district on Friday, June 5, 2026, affirming that the project represents an important step towards promoting inclusive economic development and empowering local communities.
In her speech during the opening ceremony, the President said that the commercial center is not only a commercial investment, but also an integrated platform to bring basic services closer to citizens, in addition to its contribution to creating job opportunities and supporting the rapid transformation that Katotura is witnessing to become a vital center for economic activity.
