The National Road Safety Week 2026 kicked off in Mali, chaired by the Minister of Transport.

This event, one of several initiatives launched by the Ministry of Transport through the National Road Safety Agency (ANASER), is a key platform for raising awareness and implementing concrete measures to combat road insecurity in Mali.

This year's slogan is: "Uncontrolled occupation of public roads: a danger to traffic safety.".

Road seizures in Burkina Faso

This issue is of utmost importance, given the widespread phenomenon of illegal occupation of public roads. This phenomenon particularly endangers the most vulnerable road users and impedes traffic flow in cities.

In her opening remarks for the National Road Safety Week, Minister Dembele Madina Cissoko announced that during this week, awareness campaigns, inspections and road cleaning operations will be carried out in Bamako and the regional capitals, with the participation of the relevant technical bodies, security forces, local authorities and civil society organizations.

Adopting responsible civic behavior

Minister Cissoko took the opportunity to urge all citizens to adopt responsible civic behavior and abide by regulations, in order to preserve public roads and contribute to providing safer mobility for all.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, teams from ANASER and its partners, led by General Manager Ousmane Bah Maiga, began cleaning several main roads in the capital as part of a public road cleanup campaign. Similar measures will be implemented in the regional capitals.
