Botswana's president opens Zimbabwe International Fair and strengthens partnership between the two countries

The president announced Botswana Duma Poku officially opened the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, stressing that this participation represents a “great honor”.

The visit came as part of his participation in the work of the fifth bilateral committee between Botswana Zimbabwe, which is a key platform for promoting joint cooperation between the two countries.

Strategic agreements to enhance cooperation

The high-level meetings, held at the Presidential Palace in the capital Harare, witnessed the signing of more than 10 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering vital sectors, including trade facilitation, industrial cooperation, and the development of value chains in agriculture and mining, in addition to joint infrastructure projects, in the context of the two countries’ efforts to enhance economic integration and open new horizons for joint growth.

The Zimbabwe-Botswana Business Forum, held in Bulawayo, is one of the most prominent economic events accompanying the 66th edition of the exhibition.

The forum brings together decision-makers and business leaders from both sides, with the aim of accelerating trade and investment cooperation and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors.

The forum attracted a large number of companies and economic institutions, indicating a growing interest in deepening bilateral trade relations.

Botswana also strengthened its presence at the exhibition with the participation of 18 companies from various sectors, showcasing their products and services to investors and potential partners.

The drive for regional integration 

These moves reflect the two countries’ commitment to strengthening regional integration within the Southern African Development Community, as both countries seek to leverage their historical and economic ties to expand trade and investment opportunities and achieve sustainable development in the region.

President Boko's opening of the exhibition underscores the importance of economic diplomacy in supporting growth, as both countries rely on such events to enhance cooperation with the private sector and build strategic partnerships that contribute to shared economic prosperity.
