Uganda’s participation in this event affirmed Kampala’s keenness to strengthen its bilateral relations with Madagascar and consolidate the bonds of joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields, in order to support development and integration efforts within the African continent.

During the celebration, Kasulu stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation among African countries, noting Uganda’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development and promoting stability and prosperity on the continent.

Uganda’s participation in Madagascar’s independence celebrations comes within the framework of the friendly relations that unite the two countries, and their endeavor to expand the areas of political, economic and cultural cooperation, in a way that serves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Every year on June 26, Madagascar commemorates its independence from France in 1960, with official and popular celebrations reflecting pride in the country's history and national identity.

Uganda targets the German market with a major tourism campaign

In a separate development, in a move aimed at strengthening its presence on the European tourism map, Uganda launched a joint tourism promotion tour with Germany in the city of Düsseldorf, with the aim of introducing its unique tourism assets and attracting more visitors from the German market.

The event was organized at the initiative of the Ugandan Embassy in Berlin and in cooperation with the Ugandan Tourism Authority. It brought together a number of government officials, tourism sector representatives and tour operators from both countries, as part of efforts to enhance tourism cooperation and open new horizons for partnerships between the two sides.

Uganda Culture and Tourism Festival

The event comes as a prelude to the launch of the first edition of the Uganda Culture and Tourism Festival, scheduled to be held in Munich from June 26 to 28, 2026, which aims to highlight Ugandan cultural identity and enhance the country’s appeal as an integrated tourist destination.

During the event, Ms. Jessica Namudu, speaking on behalf of Ambassador Stephen Mubiro, emphasized the depth of bilateral relations between Uganda and Germany, noting that the tourism sector represents one of the promising areas for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Namudo highlighted Uganda’s most prominent tourist attractions, including the rare mountain gorillas, rich biodiversity, unique wildlife, diverse cultural heritage, and stunning landscapes that have made the country one of the most prominent emerging tourist destinations in Africa.

Through these promotional initiatives, Uganda seeks to enhance its position on the international tourism scene and increase the number of tourists coming from Europe, especially from Germany, which is one of the important markets for African tourism.
