60,000 Congolese citizens attend the inauguration ceremony
Ambassador Mohamed Karim Sherif, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, revealed details of his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Congo-Brazzaville, stressing that he represented President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on this occasion on the assignment of Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, within the framework of the distinguished relations that bind Egypt to Congo-Brazzaville.

Sharif explained, in a special statement to ”Zoom Africa News”, that the atmosphere of the celebration was characterized by vitality and distinctive organization, as it witnessed a large public attendance estimated at about 60,000 Congolese citizens in the stadium, in addition to the participation of a number of African presidents, especially from Central African countries, as well as representatives from North African countries.
He noted that during the event he conveyed President Sisi’s greetings and congratulations to his Congolese counterpart on the occasion of his re-election, stressing that he met with him twice, the first time upon his arrival and the second time at the conclusion of the events.
Relations between Egypt and Congo-Brazzaville
He added that the Congolese president expressed his appreciation to Egypt, praising the phone call he received from President Sisi after the election results were announced, and affirming his aspiration to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming period.
Regarding bilateral relations, Sharif affirmed that there is a convergence of visions and directions, noting the presence of major Egyptian companies operating in Congo-Brazzaville, such as “Arab Contractors” and ”Petrojet”, stressing the interest of both sides in expanding the horizons of cooperation, especially in light of the trend towards supporting African solutions to problems within the continent, through reliance on local capabilities and products.
He added that the coming period will witness a new push for cooperation in vital areas including agriculture, energy and maritime transport, in addition to expanding existing projects, reflecting the mutual trust and great potential that Egypt possesses to support development in Africa.
