Jinja, Uganda: The capital of adventure and investment in East Africa

Jinja city  Ugandan One of the most important economic and tourist cities in Uganda, it is located at the source of the Nile River and is known as the “adventure capital of East Africa”.

In recent years, the city has become a magnet for local and foreign investments thanks to its strategic location and advanced infrastructure network, making it a promising destination for regional and international companies, including Egyptian companies.

Jinja has a strategic location and a growing economy.

Jinja is located about 80 kilometers east of the Ugandan capital, Kampala, and represents an important trade gateway linking Uganda to regional markets in Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The city's economy is based on manufacturing, agriculture, trade, and tourism, as well as logistics projects related to the East African Transport Corridor.

Jinja is characterized by the presence of a number of industrial zones that attract investors in the food and beverage, building materials and energy sectors, which enhances its position as one of the most important centers of economic growth in Uganda.

The Nile Bridge is an engineering icon that supports development.

The Source of the Nile Bridge is the most prominent landmark of modern Jinja. It is a 525-meter-long cable-stayed bridge that connects Jinja and Nigero across the Nile River.

It is classified as one of the most important modern infrastructure projects in Uganda, as it has contributed to enhancing transport and trade between East Africa and the African interior countries.

The bridge represents a strategic project to improve trade and transport on the northern corridor linking Kenya’s port of Mombasa with the landlocked countries of East and Central Africa. It has also become a prominent tourist attraction thanks to its distinctive architectural design and attractive nighttime lighting, which draws thousands of visitors annually.

Egyptian projects and companies in Uganda

Economic relations between Egypt and Uganda have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, with Egyptian companies active in the fields of contracting, infrastructure, energy, medicine and food industries.

Arab Contractors is one of the most prominent Egyptian companies operating in Uganda, as it has participated in the implementation of road, infrastructure and water projects that have strengthened economic cooperation between the two countries.

Egyptian investments are also present in the pharmaceutical, food, building materials and services sectors, benefiting from free trade agreements within the COMESA bloc, which opens the door for further expansion in promising economic cities such as Jinja.
