The Egyptian Embassy in Nigeria celebrates the 74th anniversary of the July 23 Revolution with official and diplomatic attendance.

Ambassador Mohamed Fouad, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Nigeria, held a reception on the occasion of the seventy-fourth anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, with the participation of a number of senior Nigerian officials, most notably the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunuma Omar Ahmed, in addition to a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of Parliament, the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Mining, a number of Nigerian businessmen, media representatives, a number of university professors and experts from research and think tanks in Nigeria, a group of foreign ambassadors and members of foreign embassies, in addition to members of the Egyptian community in Nigeria.
Supporting liberation movements in Africa
The speech delivered by Ambassador Mohamed Fouad during the celebration included highlighting the importance of the July 23 Revolution in supporting liberation movements in Africa and the Third World and defending the principles of freedom, independence and the right to development, referring to the developments that Egypt has witnessed during recent years, especially in terms of infrastructure, in connection with the vision of the “New Republic” launched by the President, praising the distinguished relations that bind us to Nigeria, noting that this year coincides with the sixty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which are bound by historical ties dating back centuries through trade and cultural exchange across the Sahara, and referring to the outcomes of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Abuja in July 2025, which witnessed the holding of a business forum on its sidelines with the participation of 30 senior Egyptian businessmen.
The Ambassador also congratulated the members of the Egyptian community in Nigeria on this occasion, thanking them for the important role they play in advancing relations between Egypt and Nigeria, given their distinguished expertise in their fields of specialization, and their keenness to always be a respectable representative of Egypt in Nigeria.
For his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in his speech, touched on the developments witnessed in the course of bilateral relations during the past period, especially with regard to the growth of trade exchange and the increase in the number of Nigerian students studying in Egyptian universities. He also praised the Egyptian support for his country during the civil war (1967-1970) and Egypt’s support for the legitimate government during that crisis, and he commended the coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums to advance African interests.
