In a statement issued today, Friday, July 24, 2026, the General Staff of the Armed Forces announced the success of a series of precision strikes directed against the Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin/Front for the Liberation of Assam terrorist alliance in the Kidal region.
These operations come after the destruction of several terrorist bases near Kidal and in the Souribougougo area (Keita region) on July 23. On the same day, thanks to the collection of accurate intelligence, the Malian Armed Forces and their partners detected a high-level meeting of a number of terrorist leaders north of Kidal, supported by significant logistical resources.
The forces launched an immediate surgical strike targeting the site and eliminating all operational capabilities concentrated there.
The offensive continued on Friday, July 24, west of Kidal, where four more terrorist strongholds and their logistical depots were successfully destroyed. Reconnaissance operations are still underway to form a comprehensive assessment of enemy losses.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces affirmed its determination to carry out operations to secure national territories with all firmness and commitment, praising the progress made, and renewed its appeal to the people to support the forces participating in the operation.
Mali rejects any US role in confronting the Nusrat al-Islam group.
In a separate context, the Malian government rejected reports that spoke of the possibility of the United States taking a military role in confronting the Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) group.
She confirmed that she had not requested any American intervention, nor had she held any consultations with Washington regarding the implementation of military operations inside Malian territory.
Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop said that Malian authorities learned of these reports through the media, denying any agreement or coordination with the US administration regarding launching operations against the armed group.
The financial stance followed US media reports indicating that the US administration was considering military options to target Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), one of the most prominent armed groups linked to al-Qaeda in the Sahel region. Executive bodies

No official decision has been issued regarding the implementation of military operations inside Mali, at a time when the organization continues to expand the scope of its attacks in a number of West African countries.
