Egypt's ambassador meets with Senegal's new environment minister to strengthen relations between the two countries.

As part of the embassy's efforts to explore opportunities available to Egyptian companies, businesspeople, and investors, Ambassador Khaled Aref met with the Minister of Environment. Senegalese The new/ Dr. Aliou Gory Diouf, where he offered him congratulations on the occasion of his assuming his new position.
The ambassador praised the two leaderships’ keenness to continue the path of excellence and development of bilateral relations, through concerted efforts and the creation of effective communication channels between ministries, government institutions, chambers of industry and commerce, companies and businessmen, to maximize the value added to our national wealth, in a way that meets the economic and societal needs and aspirations of the two countries and achieves self-sufficiency.
Economic similarities between the two countries
He also highlighted the economic, financial and social similarities between the two countries, making the Egyptian experience a model that can be applied in Senegal in line with Senegal’s 2050 vision.
Ambassador Khaled Aref continued to explain the embassy’s ongoing efforts to develop cooperation in various economic and commercial sectors and to promote Egyptian investments in the Senegalese market.
With regard to the environment sector, the strategic framework of Egypt’s Environmental Vision 2030 was reviewed, for the transformation in the fields of energy, sustainable agriculture, irrigation, etc., and the role of the Egyptian private sector in this was highlighted, as well as international cooperation through the COP27 Conference of the Parties, the partnership between Egypt and the United Nations Development Programme, strengthening financing mechanisms directed to the private sector in the African continent, and environmental diplomacy.
The importance of developing environmental cooperation
He also emphasized the importance of developing environmental cooperation, given that Egypt and Senegal share a common development vision, and suggested that the prospects for bilateral cooperation should culminate in the signing of memoranda of understanding in the “From Desert to Energy” program, and the exchange of experiences and technical missions to support institutional capacities and climate action.
For his part, the Senegalese minister stressed his scientific and realistic conviction of the need to increase the pace of developing relations with Egypt in urgently needed environmental projects, and to provide financial and technical cooperation through bilateral and trilateral agreements, with the participation of national institutions and the private sector.
He added that his government and ministry support the policy of entering into any joint ventures with the public and private sectors, in order to benefit from Egyptian technological development, experience and knowledge.
He added that this cooperation will fulfill a large part of his government’s ambitious programs and plans in the environment and clean renewable energy sector, to create job opportunities for young people and diversify sources of national income.
