Consultations between the President of Tanzania and leaders of political parties to strengthen internal stability

The President of Tanzania held a meeting, Samia Soloho HassanA meeting was held with leaders of political parties at the presidential headquarters in Dar es Salaam to discuss ways to enhance national dialogue and consultation on priority issues, within the framework of the government’s efforts to consolidate political stability and support the development process.

The Tanzanian president stressed that the meeting comes in the context of promoting a culture of communication and cooperation between the various political forces, which contributes to the exchange of visions and views on issues that affect the national interest, and to consolidating the values of mutual respect and understanding between all parties.

Samia Suluhu Hassan explained that the government will continue to work with various political parties and active forces, based on its belief in the importance of national partnership in maintaining peace and national unity, and advancing economic and social development efforts in a way that serves the interests of all citizens.

The meeting comes as part of the Tanzanian government’s approach to expanding channels of dialogue with various political parties, thereby enhancing internal stability and supporting the implementation of sustainable development plans in the country.

In another context, as Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo struggle with Ebola outbreaks, Tanzania has stepped up health monitoring measures on its borders as part of its efforts to prevent the infection from spreading into its territory.

Tanzanian Health Minister Mohammed Mtshingruwa said over the weekend that although no confirmed cases of Ebola have been recorded in Tanzania, the continued outbreak in neighboring countries increases the risk of cross-border transmission, given the active movement of people, trade, and shared borders.

He explained that the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with regional and local authorities, carried out joint activities in May 2026 to enhance preparedness and readiness with Uganda and Burundi at the Mutokola and Kabanga-Kopero border crossings.

During a visit to the Holili border post in Rumbo District of Kilimanjaro, Mtshingrua noted that special screening and monitoring systems have been implemented at all entry points, with particular emphasis on border crossings adjacent to countries affected by the virus.

He added: “Intensive efforts are being made in border areas, especially those close to affected countries. To date, Tanzania has not recorded any cases of Ebola or any suspected cases, and we will continue to strengthen prevention and health protection measures.”
