The Presidency of the Republic welcomes Egypt The Arab League announced the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, stressing the great importance of this step towards reducing tension and sparing the region further escalation, and restoring security and stability in the Middle East.
Egypt welcomes US-Iran agreement to reduce regional tensions
The Presidency expresses its deep appreciation for the leadership and wisdom of US President Donald Trump and his commitment to achieving peace and resolving disputes peacefully, as well as his sincere efforts to reach a consensus on the Memorandum of Understanding. It also appreciates Iran's commitment to positive engagement through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. Egypt values the full coordination with regional partners that led to this satisfactory outcome and appreciates the tireless efforts of Pakistan, Qatar, and the other members of the Quartet, namely Saudi Arabia and Turkey, in reaching the aforementioned Memorandum of Understanding.
Egypt expresses its hope that this step will constitute a major turning point towards a new phase of de-escalation, confidence-building and joint cooperation, and that the Memorandum of Understanding will be fully adhered to, in spirit and in letter, in preparation for reaching a final and sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties and supports efforts to achieve sustainable security and stability in the region.
Egypt hopes that this recent development, in connection with the cessation of hostilities with Iran, will contribute to creating a favorable environment for dealing with various regional conflicts, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, which is the core of the conflict in the Middle East region, and that its decisive and final settlement is one of the fundamental pillars for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region. Egypt reiterates its appreciation for the tireless and commendable efforts of President Trump in reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Egypt also hopes that the recently concluded memorandum of understanding will lead to a complete cessation of Israeli attacks on brotherly Lebanon, Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory, and respect for its unity and territorial integrity.
Egypt expresses its hope that the upcoming technical talks between the American and Iranian sides will be successful, thus enhancing the chances of reaching more comprehensive and sustainable understandings that contribute to consolidating regional stability and reducing tensions. Egypt affirms its full readiness to provide contributions that would support the success of these talks. Egypt also reiterates its commitment to supporting efforts and endeavors aimed at strengthening regional security and stability and resolving disputes peacefully, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
