On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the President of Benin, Romuald Ouadagne, paid a working visit to the headquarters of the European Union institutions in the Belgian capital, Brussels, as part of his country's efforts to strengthen its strategic partnership with the European Union.

During the visit, Wadagne met with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, where talks focused on ways to strengthen political dialogue and consolidate cooperation between the two sides.

The meetings focused on establishing a partnership capable of addressing new development challenges, supporting Benin's development priorities and enhancing cooperation with the European Union in various areas of common interest.
