Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia discuss strengthening economic and investment cooperation.

Ambassador Boukary Safadogo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid Al Saud and his accompanying delegation, which included Saudi businessmen, engineers and company directors, at the embassy headquarters in Riyadh.

According to the Embassy of Burkina Faso in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the embassy presented the great economic potential of the country. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of respect and brotherhood, and both parties affirmed a shared desire to strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries.

Relations between Saudi Arabia and Burkina Faso

Prince Khalid bin Saud affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to intensifying its investments in Burkina Faso, noting that these investments will include the energy, hydrocarbons, mining, agriculture, rail and air transport, infrastructure, and financial sectors.

The Saudi delegation praised Burkina Faso’s economic potential, describing it as a prestigious country that is experiencing continuous growth, and expressed its support for the President of Burkina Faso, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Following the meeting, an expanded working session was held, providing a detailed overview of investment opportunities. Mr. Mohammadi Somdakoma presented a comprehensive overview of his country's economic potential. The discussions resulted in the identification of concrete prospects for cooperation in the fields of mining, agricultural industries, solar energy, infrastructure, and digitalization.

The meeting was also marked by two symbolic gestures; Ambassador Svadougo presented Prince Khalid with a “Sabuni” hat, which is a symbol of Burkinabe craftsmanship, while the Prince responded by presenting his personal attire, in a rare gesture reflecting mutual appreciation and trust.

It is worth noting that this meeting reflects the growing interest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Burkina Faso, and paves the way for more dynamic and strategic cooperation between the two countries, which will enhance joint economic development and open new horizons for future partnership.
