Child Ahmed Tamer wins third place globally in the Tanzania Holy Quran competition

The most important competitions in East Africa

Ahmed Tamer Mamdouh Mohamed Sabry, 12 years old, a first-year preparatory student at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, from the village of Shanbara, affiliated with Abu Hammad Center in Sharqia Governorate, and known as the child prodigy, won third place today in the junior memorization category, after competing with contestants from 26 countries, in the Tanzania International Holy Quran Award competition, which is supervised by the Holy Quran Association in Tanzania, with sponsorship and support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Tanzania Award is considered one of the most important international competitions in East Africa.

Ahmed Tamer... A Journey with the Holy Quran

Ahmed Tamer memorized the entire Quran at the age of five and a half, then he studied the sciences of Tajweed and rulings and obtained the Hafs narration from him. Then God opened for him the memorization of the chapters of the Holy Quran in the number of verses, and he participated in the Sheikh of Al-Azhar competition in 2019-2020 and obtained first place, and first place at the level of the Sharqia Governorate in the Youth and Sports competition.

He participated in the 28th World Competition of the Ministry of Endowments, at the junior level, with 60 children. He competed in the qualifiers with 5 participants and won second place. He received his award from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who had previously met him and recited in front of him, when he made a phone call to him during his appearance on a television program, and expressed his great admiration for his memorization of the Book of God at a young age.

He also won first place in the Port Said International Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran, Junior Branch, for the year 2024, and he also won second place in the Port Said International Competition, Hafiz Al-Mutafaqqih Branch.

Tanzania Holy Quran Competition

The National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania, witnessed the conclusion of the 34th edition of the Tanzania International Holy Quran Award competition, which was sponsored and supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, and organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Tanzania, with the participation of 26 contestants representing 26 countries from around the world.

The Minister of Energy in Zanzibar and the Advisor to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Tanzania honored the top three winners of the award in the adult and junior categories, amidst a special celebratory atmosphere during which the attendees expressed their happiness with this great Quranic event that reflects the status of the Holy Quran in the hearts of Muslims, and embodies the depth of Islamic cooperation in serving the Book of God Almighty.

The closing ceremony was attended by a large audience of over 60,000 people. It is worth mentioning that the final rounds of the competition had started with the participation of 26 contestants from 26 countries from different continents of the world, where the judging committee listened to the readings of the contestants to choose the winners in the branches of the competition, in a session that was distinguished by the high level of the participants and their mastery of memorization and Quranic readings.
