The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the capital, Accra, Ghana, held a large celebration on the occasion of the seventy-fourth National Day of the glorious July 23 Revolution, with a high-level attendance that included a number of senior officials in the Republic of Ghana, ministers, members of parliament, representatives of the business community, members of the Egyptian community, as well as ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Ghana.

In his speech during the celebration, Ambassador Wael Fathi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ghana, emphasized the depth of the historical relations that unite the two countries, noting that next year will witness the celebration of seventy years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Ghana, which have been characterized over the decades by stability and continuous development, without witnessing any decline or waning.

The ambassador explained that Egyptian-Ghanaian relations represent a successful model of regional cooperation between two countries with significant political and regional influence. Egypt is a pivotal power in the Middle East and North Africa, while Ghana is one of the most stable and influential countries in West Africa. He added that the partnership between the two countries is based on mutual respect and a shared desire to enhance cooperation in various political, economic, and developmental fields.

Ambassador Wael Fathi pointed out that the celebration of the Egyptian National Day is not limited to commemorating a national memory, but also embodies the depth of the bonds of friendship that unite the two peoples, and recalls the historical role of the July 23, 1952 revolution, which contributed to inspiring national liberation movements in Africa and Asia, and paved the way for ending the era of colonialism and consolidating the values of independence and national sovereignty.

The celebration featured a display of media materials and documentaries showcasing the most prominent national projects and developmental achievements in Egypt across various sectors, as well as highlighting the comprehensive modernization process underway in the Egyptian state, and the national role played by the armed forces in protecting the nation’s resources and supporting the development process, in addition to highlighting the close ties that bind the Egyptian people to their national institutions.

The celebration reflected the high regard in which Egypt is held by various political, diplomatic and economic circles in Ghana, and affirmed Cairo and Accra’s commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a way that serves common interests and supports development and stability efforts in the African continent.
