Enhancing cooperation through joint projects

Local manufacturing and technology transfer

An agreement was reached to enhance cooperation through joint ventures and technology transfer, with a list of products to be jointly manufactured in the next phase identified.

Bridging the gaps in essential medicines
The meeting addressed the challenges facing the provision of essential medicines, particularly at the primary healthcare level. The Kenyan side noted existing gaps requiring targeted support aligned with national standards to ensure improved access to treatment and enhanced efficiency of the health system.
Medical convoys to support deprived areas
As part of efforts to enhance health services, plans were announced to host an Egyptian medical convoy in June 2026. This initiative aims to provide specialized medical services in underserved areas, along with supporting the transfer of expertise and building local capacity for health personnel.

Training and implementation follow-up programs
Both sides agreed to develop a structured training program to enhance cooperation, and to appoint official contact points to monitor the implementation of the agreements. They also agreed to review progress every six months to ensure adherence to timelines and the achievement of desired outcomes.
The meeting was attended by a number of Kenyan officials, including Dr. Uma Oluga, Ms. Mary Muthoni, and Dr. Patrick Amoth, along with other officials from the Ministry of Health.

Health cooperation between Kenya and Egypt has witnessed remarkable development in recent years, as the two countries seek to strengthen partnership in the areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing, exchange of medical expertise, and improvement of the quality of health services.
This collaboration focuses on supporting the local production of medicines and vaccines, as well as organizing medical convoys to provide specialized services in the most needy areas.
The cooperation also includes the implementation of joint training programs to qualify health personnel and transfer technology, which contributes to the development of health systems in both countries and achieving a more efficient response to increasing health challenges.
