South Sudan's Vice President: Economic reforms to boost stability and improve living conditions

أكد نائب رئيس جمهورية جنوب السودان، ورئيس المجموعة الاقتصادية، البروفيسور جيمس واني ايجا، التزام الحكومة بمواصلة تنفيذ economic reforms الهادفة إلى استعادة الاستقرار المالي، ومعالجة التحديات الاقتصادية التي تواجه البلاد.
This came during his meeting with the Joint Working Group for Economic Reforms, the Supreme Ministerial Committee for Economic Reform, where he listened to a briefing on developments in the economic situation, progress made in implementing reforms, and recommendations for the next phase.
Improvement in commodity price stability
The committee said it had recorded an improvement in the stability of commodity prices, particularly fuel, following consultations with representatives of the Somali business community in South Sudan, noting that stable fuel prices contribute to reducing transportation and living costs.
Iga called on the committee to continue implementing reforms at a faster pace, focusing on strengthening public financial management, improving cash flow, ensuring regular salary payments, and increasing government revenues.
He also urged citizens to be patient, stressing that the government continues to take measures to address the economic situation and improve living conditions.
The working group is headed by the Minister for East African Community Affairs, Bieng Deng Kuol, who confirmed that the committee will continue to implement the economic reform program in coordination with the economic group.

في سياق متصل بالشأن المحلي الجنوب سوداني، أطلق أسقف أبرشية كاجو كيجي، المطران جوزيف آبا نيكانور، نداءً إنسانيًا عاجلًا دعا خلاله حكومة جنوب السودان، والمنظمات الإغاثية والكنائس والمجتمعات المحلية إلى التحرك الفوري لمواجهة الأزمة الإنسانية المتفاقمة في المنطقة، في ظل استمرار موجات النزوح واتساع حجم الدمار الذي طال العديد من القرى والمناطق السكنية.
Bishop Nicanor stressed that the humanitarian situation in Kajo Keji requires a rapid and organized response, noting that large numbers of families have been forced to leave their homes and seek safer places, amid difficult living conditions and a severe shortage of basic necessities.
Thousands of families are facing harsh living conditions.
Bishop Kajo Keji explained that displaced families are suffering great difficulties as a result of the loss of shelter and the absence of essential services, including food, clean drinking water and health care, which increases the daily suffering of the affected population.
