The National Electoral Council announced in Ethiopia Officially, the final results of the seventh general election have been announced, confirming the Prosperity Party's victory with a majority of seats in the House of People's Representatives, securing 438 seats.

The results were announced during a ceremony attended by President Taye Atske Selassie, along with representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, ambassadors and media representatives.

The deputy chairman of the National Electoral Council, Tesfaye Nway, explained that the Prosperity Party achieved a majority in all regions and civil administrations, and also won the largest share of seats in regional councils nationwide.

The seventh general election was held in 1,139 constituencies, including 501 constituencies for the House of Representatives and 638 constituencies for regional state assemblies, according to the National Electoral Council.

Ethiopia launches Africa's first unified government services app

In a separate context, in a move described as an unprecedented digital achievement on the continent, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated the launch of the first unified and integrated digital service application in Africa, called “MESOB,” during the “Digital for Intelligence” conference. This application brings together the services of a number of government institutions on a single platform.

The new application aims to make it easier for citizens to access government services from one place, reducing time and effort and limiting administrative complexities, within the framework of the state’s move towards comprehensive digital transformation.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized during the opening that the “MESOB” platform represents an important digital economic infrastructure that contributes to enhancing the efficiency of government institutions and reducing opportunities for corruption by reducing paper transactions and relying on a unified and transparent electronic system.

He pointed out that the launch of the application reflects the Ethiopian government’s orientation towards investing in technology as a key tool for development, stressing that this project represents a strategic step towards building a more efficient and modern government services system.

He also called for sharing this experience with other African countries, which would contribute to supporting digital transformation efforts on the continent and enhancing cooperation in the field of technology and smart services.
