Ghana and UNIDO strengthen partnership to support manufacturing

The Ghanaian Foreign Minister received Samuel Okudzito Ablakawa presented the credentials of the new representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Dr. Emmanuel Calenzi, during an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Accra, stressing the importance of the role played by the organization in supporting the country’s industrial development.
The Foreign Minister affirmed that UNIDO is a strategic and reliable development partner for Ghana, praising its contributions to implementing projects aimed at reducing poverty, promoting industrial development, creating jobs, and empowering communities economically.

Ablakawa noted that Dr. Kalenzi’s appointment comes at a time when Ghana is implementing broad economic reforms within the government’s program known as the ”Reset Agenda,” expressing his confidence that his expertise will contribute to accelerating industrialization efforts and achieving the economic transformation the country is targeting.
The Minister expressed the Ghanaian government’s appreciation for the continued support provided by UNIDO, stressing that this cooperation reflects the organization’s confidence in Ghana’s vision for achieving inclusive and sustainable economic development.
Expanding the partnership
Dr. Emmanuel Calenzi affirmed the United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ghanaian government and working to expand the partnership in priority areas, in support of inclusive and sustainable industrial development goals.
The new UNIDO representative explained that the organization will continue to support government initiatives, most notably the “24-hour economy” project, which aims to boost productivity and increase economic activity around the clock, thereby contributing to driving industrial growth and creating more job opportunities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation between Ghana and UNIDO, emphasizing that expanding this partnership would accelerate the implementation of industrialization plans, support sustainable development efforts, and enhance the Ghanaian economy’s ability to achieve more inclusive and sustainable growth.
