Sudanese media reported the death of Azzam Kikel, brother of Major General Abu Aqla. KicklThe commander of the Sudan Shield Forces was killed after a drone targeted the family home in the village of Al-Kahli, east of Al-Jazirah State.

Sources from Al Arabiya channel reported on Sunday that the attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces resulted in the death of Kikel and a number of his family members, in addition to officers belonging to the Sudan Shield Forces.

According to Sudanese media, 17 people were killed, including two brothers of the commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, Abu Aqla Kikel, in a march attack that targeted his house in the village of Kahli Zeidan in the eastern part of Al-Jazirah State, south of Khartoum.

Five people were killed on Saturday in a drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces that hit a vehicle in the greater Khartoum area, in the second such attack in the capital this week, according to a human rights organization.

Rapid Support Forces violations in Sudan

Emergency Lawyers, an organization that documents abuses during the ongoing war since April 2023, said that a Rapid Support Forces drone struck a civilian vehicle on the Al-Jumouiya Triangle road on Saturday morning in southern Omdurman, killing all its passengers.

She added that the vehicle was coming from the Sheikh Al-Siddiq area in the White Nile State, which is about 90 kilometers south of Khartoum.

The intensity of drone attacks launched by the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has escalated across the country in recent months, with some attacks killing dozens of people in a single strike.

A security source and eyewitnesses reported that a drone strike targeted a hospital in the Jabal Awliya area, about 40 kilometers south of central Khartoum, last Tuesday, according to AFP.

Sudan Shield Forces

The Sudan Shield Forces joined the Sudanese army in October 2024, more than a year after their alliance with the Rapid Support Forces in the war that broke out in Sudan in April 2023.

Azzam, Kikel's brother, is considered the second man in the Sudan Shield Forces, which were established in early 2022.

The attack on Kikel's house comes amid internal tensions in Sudan and the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, with no solution to the conflict in Sudan yet reached.
