Burkina Faso repatriates 120 migrants from Libya and launches support and economic integration programs.

The 120 citizens arrived safely at Ouagadougou International Airport after months of severe social and economic instability and grave risks to their personal safety within the troubled Libyan territory.

Upon their arrival, they were received by a specialized team of Burkinabe humanitarian officials and IOM personnel. They were provided with personal hygiene items and clean clothing, and underwent medical examinations.

The state provided comprehensive temporary accommodation for four days, including meals. This short stay allowed the state's social workers to provide necessary psychological and social support and calming sessions.

Following the conclusion of the four-day orientation program, the state activated local transportation networks to safely transport migrants back to their home provinces and villages.

To ensure these citizens are not forced to return to irregular migration routes out of desperation, the administration offers local grants for economic integration. Returnees are slated to participate in accelerated programs in agriculture, livestock, and structural technology to secure sustainable employment opportunities in their communities.
