Burkina Faso: Ministry of Industry announces the launch of the second phase of women's economic empowerment.

Launched Burkina FasoThe second phase of the “Economic Empowerment of Women through Innovation and Access to Intellectual Property” (AFPI) project was officially launched last Tuesday.

The launch ceremony, the second of its kind after Cameroon in 2024, was held under the patronage of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Serge Gnanewedim Bouda, who was represented by the Minister of Energy, Yacouba Goba.

The new phase in Burkina Faso aims to build on the achievements of the first phase and expand the project's impact.

The main objective is to strengthen the capabilities of women and girls, members of community agribusiness associations, by raising their awareness of the mechanisms for creating commercial value through intellectual property.

Women's economic empowerment: training workshops

Over the course of three days, participants will benefit from a series of training workshops designed to enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

In this way, participants in these sessions can better master protection tools, secure and enhance the value of their innovations, promote their local products, and strengthen their competitiveness in national and international markets.

It is noted that this initiative was very well received by the Minister, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the two entities initiating the project, in order to provide the appropriate conditions for the genuine empowerment of women, especially young women.
